Mayor Tom Menino and the Boston Redevelopment Authority launched last week at an event hosted at the FableVision headquarters in Boston. The new website, which will serve as a virtual community for the local digital media/game industry, as well as the launch of a Boston-area Game Industry Steering Committee, are two initiatives that the Redevelopment Authority has implemented to help support the local games industry.

According the the Boston Redevelopment Authority, our industry contributes over $200 million to the local economy with over 1,500 jobs across 76 companies.  The new Game Industry Steering Committee is made up of key members from local game firms, and will advise the Mayor and the Boston Redevelopment Authority staff in “strengthening the Boston-area game development presence, raising Boston’s profile as a global leader in digital media and specifically the game industry.”
