Last week, Mass High Tech reporter Brendan Lynch published a Q&A with Jason Schupbach, Creative Economy Industry Director for the Massachusetts Office of Business Development. Jason started in this position last summer and has since been working to coordinate the state’s overall economic development efforts in the creative industries, including the local video game industry.

During the Mass High Tech interview, Jason briefly discusses his thoughts on the local video game industry and how the state has been working to help foster its growth:

I think there’s enormous potential. We have the fourth-largest development community in the country. In the middle of the economic crisis, last November, video gaming had its most successful month ever. It’s a $50 billion industry now, so I think we’re going to continue to see growth. There are video game companies locally that are still hiring. There’s probably 50 to 100 positions open at any time.
